05 - Energo-installation

Light and sound response to movement in public space, with artistic, informative, decorative or other content. Dynamic and controllable creative relationship between user (passer-by, exhibition visitor, “customer”) and the informational (even marketable) content under demonstration.

Primary beneficiaries:

STX, Merima, KONE, LPR, Panphonics, Valoa, SKS

Implementation / applications:

  1. The system can incorporate locational elements e.g. on a cruise ship, i.e. gps based output content regarding the cultural, historical, artistic, ludic, commercial, and educational phenomena relative to its route and the environment/nature that unfolds on its course. The system maps vessel motion and location, generating on their basis augmented/virtual on-screen content that passengers can react to.

  2. Practical communication can be ”dramatised” by interactive technologies – whether between smartphones or display devices, or embedded within specific displays – by means of which passengers can provide onboard displays and cabin television sets with their personal content

  3. A filter/control system is necessary for blocking harmful content

  4. Children can partake in a playful and dramatic (e.g. maritime) adventure, whose contact and task segments are incorporated within public onboard screens and the cabin television system

  5. The game can implement e.g. an Aristotelian “dramatic arc,” with single tasks/choices leading the action to different directions. More complex, intertwining story lines are also possible.

  6. An audiovisual installation can be produced to cover the onboard screen system either in whole or in part (perhaps circulating therein from screen to screen)

  7. Within the installation, different displays can incorporate multimodal interactive elements e.g. by means of motion tracking, speech recognition, or haptic sensors. Installation themes can be both changing and permanent (the sea, cruise resorts, themes suggested by shipping company)

  8. For e.g. adult theme cruises, onboard displays can incorporate or generate task-based dramaturgies / plots (as above) that passengers can perform / carry out / negotiate as individuals or as groups

  9. Such task-based dramaturgies (esp. when targeted to children as above) often benefit from subsuming a rewarding element here and there along the way
